An app won’t open

Some apps don’t accept links, and a few change them in updates. Remove the row in Plain, then add it back with Not listed? › Run a Shortcut. First make a Shortcut that uses the Open App action; that works for every app.

Why does the screen flash when I tap an app?

iOS doesn’t let widgets open other apps directly, so each tap passes through Plain for a split second. Plain shows a blank screen in your widget’s colour to keep it as quick as possible.

Where did the app’s name go?

Plain has a blank name on purpose, so nothing shows under its icon on a minimal home screen. It’s still called Plain in the App Store and in Settings.

Changes appear within a few seconds. If one doesn’t, touch and hold the widget, choose Edit Widget, then tap outside it.

Camera, Calculator or Settings

These apps don’t accept links. Make a Shortcut with Open App › Camera, name it “Camera”, and add it in Plain with Run a Shortcut.

I paid but Plain says I haven’t

Tap Unlock everything › Restore purchase while signed in to the same Apple Account. Family members can restore too if Family Sharing is on.
