Plain

Plain privacy policy

Effective 2026-09-22 · Applies to Plain for iPhone, version 1.0

Short version: Plain collects nothing. There’s no account, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. The only time Plain uses the internet is if you connect TickTick, and then your phone talks directly to TickTick. We never see your tasks. Apple Reminders never leave your phone at all.

What stays on your phone

  • Your launcher list and settings (which apps you added, their order and names, your font and colours). They’re stored in a file on your iPhone that only Plain and its widgets can read. We never see them.
  • Calendar (optional). If you turn on “Show next event”, the Time & Date widget reads the title and start time of your next event so it can display it. The event is read on your phone, shown in the widget, and never stored or sent anywhere. You can turn it off in Plain, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars.
  • Photos (add-only, optional). “Save wallpaper” adds one image to your photo library. Plain can’t see or read your photos.

TickTick (optional)

If you connect TickTick, Plain signs in through TickTick’s own page and keeps the access key it receives in your iPhone’s keychain. Plain then reads your open tasks and marks tasks complete when you tap them in the widget. That’s all it’s allowed to do, and all of it goes directly between your phone and TickTick’s servers. Plain doesn’t copy your tasks anywhere else. A short list is kept on your phone so the widget can show it instantly. Disconnecting in Plain deletes the key and that list. TickTick’s own privacy policy covers your data on their service.

Apple Reminders (optional)

If you choose Reminders for the Tasks widget, Plain asks iOS for access to your reminders. It reads your open reminders to show them, and marks one done when you tap its circle. That’s all. Everything happens on your phone, and Plain never sends your reminders anywhere. You can turn access off any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Reminders.

Purchases

The 99¢ unlock is processed by Apple. Plain only learns whether you’ve unlocked, never who you are or how you paid. Apple’s privacy policy covers the transaction.

Opening other apps

When you tap an app in the launcher, Plain asks iOS to open it. Plain doesn’t see or record which apps you open or when.

Children

Plain doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If a future version changes any of this (for example, app locks or weather in later updates), this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be listed here with its date.
